Emergency Plumbing Solihull: When It Is Gas
Afterglow Plumbing & Heating Limited, a family run plumbing and heating firm based in Sheldon, Birmingham, covers emergency plumbing across Birmingham and Solihull. If you smell gas, get everybody out, avoid switches and flames, and call the national gas emergency line from outside.
Smell of gas at home in Solihull: what now?
It is always an emergency. Leave the building, avoid switches, phones and naked flames indoors, and open doors and windows as you go. Where safe, close the valve at the meter and phone the national gas emergency number once outside.
After the emergency service has isolated it, the appliance itself needs a Gas Safe registered engineer. Afterglow Plumbing & Heating Limited holds Gas Safe registration number 501031. Carbon monoxide alarms near gas appliances, tested every month, are worth having.
Who are some trusted emergency plumbers in Solihull?
Look for a firm with a published out of hours rate, Gas Safe registration if boilers are involved, and reviews from Solihull customers. Afterglow Plumbing & Heating Limited takes emergency calls from Solihull, day or night, and holds Gas Safe registration 501031.
How is plumbing charged in Solihull?
In office hours Afterglow Plumbing & Heating Limited charges £85 + VAT for the first hour, counted as Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. Out of hours, evenings and weekends, the first hour is £140 + VAT.
Time beyond the first hour goes on in 30-minute steps, with parts and materials on top. Every quote is broken down line by line.
Is it worth replumbing a house?
It is worth it when old pipework keeps leaking, when pressure is poor throughout, or when a renovation already has floors up. Doing it during other building central heating installation in Acocks Green work costs far less than doing it later on its own.
What is involved in relocating a boiler?
Usually, and kitchen refits and extensions are when people most often ask. Lofts, garages and utility rooms are where most end up. Afterglow Plumbing & Heating Limited carries out boiler relocations across Birmingham and Solihull.
Moving a boiler is a bigger job than it looks. Gas pipe sizing, the flue route and the condensate run all have to work in the new spot. In a loft, roof access and frost protection come into it.
